For Loki

I sing this song for Him.  I don’t know how to write music, so ’till I do you’ll have to imagine the tune or come up with your own if you want to use it.

Giant-god born of leafy tree,

the flaming one now dances free.

Both near and far they speak his names.

Across the worlds they know his games.

Loki, Bringer of Change.

Loki, wild and strange.

A sly grin shifts on stitch-scarred lips.

Into the air the Lofty lifts.

With handsome face, with shining eyes,

The Closer comes, tells truth with lies.

Loki, Bringer of Change.

Loki, cunning and strange.

Good gifts he brings to all his kin.

He walks the worlds with shifting skin.

The outcast ones, we call him friend.

He carried life, begat it end.

Loki, Bringer of Change.

Loki, lovely and strange.

Loki, Bringer of Change.

Loki, wondrous and strange.

  1. I enjoyed it very much! I really got the sense of Loki’s role in triggering change and evolution, and in walking strange paths which cross boundaries. I always think, when encountering people who are being too stuffy, that “a little Loki influence” wouldn’t go amiss – he seems to stop people from taking themselves too seriously, which is sometimes absolutely necessary! I know some people dislike him, but I find him a very necessary wight in the grand scheme of things.
